About the role

Join us to make London a safer city for all.

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in shaping procurement strategies within a vibrant and diverse environment?

The Procurement, Contracts, and Grants Team is calling for two enthusiastic individuals to join our team. MOPAC are looking to recruit two Procurement Officers to carry out procurement processes in collaboration with commissioners as part of the newly established Procurement Team. We are offering one permanent position and one fixed-term contract for one year. Please indicate in your application whether you wish to be considered for both positions or if you prefer one contract type only.

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor, and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

The main responsibilities of the role:

  • Providing advice, guidance and support on procurement matters arising as an informed procurement professional.
  • Providing a high-quality service to commissioners by being proactive, supportive, and willing to go the extra step – taking a teamwork focussed approach.
  • Preparing Procurement Documents, using our e-tendering system, and publishing the required transparency notices.
  • Working collaboratively and communicating effectively with commissioning officers and other internal stakeholders throughout procurement processes.
  • Taking a risk-aware approach and managing risks sensibly through proper due diligence processes.
  • Being a team player and contributing to establishing the new procurement function.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of procurements in an important policy area, and contribute to making a positive change within a fast-paced and political landscape. If you are looking for a challenge and thrive in environments where your drive and adaptability shine, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for someone who has a reliable grounding in procurement so an excellent understanding and solid experience of the most common procurement routes and using frameworks is essential. Key to success in this role is a good understanding of the framework of public procurement legislation and a track record of successfully managing procurement processes from start to finish.

Many of our suppliers are voluntary and community sector organisations and the services we procure fall under the light touch regime, so knowledge and experience in these areas is particularly welcomed.

We are looking for a passionate advocate who embodies MOPAC's values and is dedicated to our mission. Your ability to provide excellent service, coupled with a genuine understanding of commissioners' needs and challenges, will be instrumental in driving our success forward. Collaboration is key, as is a firm grasp of our priorities, particularly in supporting victims and preventing violence.

We're committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and we need someone who shares that commitment. This role will be pivotal in ensuring our procurement processes foster innovation, deliver value for money, and address the disproportionate impacts on minoritised communities. Join us in making a real difference to the lives of Londoners.
