30 October 2019

National Youth Work Week is an annual celebration of youth work, youth practitioners and young people. This year’s theme is Youth Work in Action.

We are celebrating Youth Work Week along with organisations who receive a Young Londoners Fund grant. The Mayor’s £45m Young Londoners Fund is helping children and young people to fulfil their potential, particularly those at risk of getting caught up in crime. The fund will be supporting over 100,000 young Londoners over the next three years with a range of education, sport, cultural and other activities.

Inspiring Youth Work Exhibition

Throughout November you can visit our Inspiring Youth Work Exhibition on the Lower Ground Floor at City Hall, showing the powerful impact youth workers have, through the eyes of the young people they support.

The photographs were taken by 10 to 21 year-olds who take part in projects funded by the Young Londoners Fund. Inspiring Youth Work is a collaboration between the Greater London Authority, Eastside and Young Photographers London.

During October 2019 photography workshops took place at Bollo Brook Youth Centre, Haringey Play, Reaching Higher, Sycamore Trust and The Winch. Young people were supported to develop the skills and access the equipment needed to take high quality photographs to a brief.

City Hall is open to the public, so please do visit the exhibition!

Made in LDN Showcase

Back in summer Today at Apple hosted Made in LDN, a series of free creative sessions designed by and for young Londoners, held in partnership with the Mayor of London. Apple partnered with groups on the Mayor’s Young Londoners Fund.

Thousands of young people from across the capital came together to express themselves. Guided by inspirational creatives, they showcased talents in photography, art, design, music and more.

On Friday 8, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November, visit the exhibition of their work in Soho.
