We would like to congratulate Solace, Suzy Lamplugh Trust, Asian Women’s Resource Centre, Southall Black Sisters, Womens and Girls Network and partners for successfully achieving grants as part of the Mayor of London £15m VAWG fund announced earlier this year.
Solace and partners will be building on and expanding ‘The Ascent Project’ with a £1.5m grant to support victims of domestic abuse. The grant will allow them to increase their staffing, outreach and awareness work and build capacity to identify domestic abuse.
A £776k grant will support the Suzy Lamplugh Trust to provide a ‘London Stalking Support Service’ to build on the National Stalking Helpline. They will work in significant gaps in service delivery to provide advocacy and trauma informed support to victims. Services will be offered on a flexible basis including an online portal.
Asian Women’s Resource Centre and partners will use a £1.3m grant to develop the ‘Ending Harmful Practices Partnership’. This offers pan London support to BME women and girls, affected by harmful practices, ‘honour’ based violence, domestic abuse and sexual violence. The grant will fund community engagement and training for a variety of front-line agencies.
A grant of £1.9m will support Southall Black Sisters and partners for a ‘London Holistic Advocacy Wrap Around Service’ which focuses on accommodation support for women with no recourse to public funds. The grant will have a strong advocacy focus including; legal, immigration, housing and language support. The reach will be pan London and will provide multi agency identification training.
The Women and Girls Network and partners will receive a £1.8m grant to work with young women & girls who are experiencing or are at risk of multiple disadvantage. Through their ‘Pan London Young Women and Girls Integrated Service’ counselling will be provided alongside an extensive pan London VAWG prevention plan. There will be a tiered approach to the advocacy, including the ability to work with extremely high risk young women and girls.
Supporting victims and survivors of violence against women and girls is at the very heart of what we do, and this funding will provide much needed additional provision across the capital.
